This is just one of those tours that have been voted Excellent all the way! On this tour you will have the exciting opportunity to visit two of King Ludwig II’s private castles in Bavarian Castle Tourone day and to spend an afternoon sightseeing in Oberammergau’s endearing streets.

If you fancy a stroll through a day in the life of a King, this is the tour for you.

Linderhof is far from the bleak, stone castles that may come to mind when you consider Europe’s more medieval castles. This brilliant palace was built in 1886 by King Ludwig II.

It sits like a jewel amid thick coniferous forest. Its interior will take your breath away. The Hall of Mirrors as well as many other ornately decorated rooms will delight and inspire on this guided tour.

Neuschwanstein was the private refuge of King Ludwig II. Its presence immediately conjures images of fairy-tale fantasies. Both Neuschwanstein and Linderhof were conscientiously built with maximum preservation of the surrounding environment.

The tour is divided in two parts:

The tour begins with guided tours of Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. King Ludwig II was of a shy, poetic nature, and these palaces were his private refuges. Your tour will pass through the grotto and Moorish pavilion, and given the circumstances you may very well dream about the life of the fairy-tale king. In Neuschwanstein, many of the windows frame the surrounding landscape like paintings. It is said that King Ludwig II used to stand before the windows and daydream.

You will have approximately 4 hours’ time to visit Neuschwanstein and for lunch.

Next on the agenda is a visit to Oberammergau. While visiting, be sure to take notice of the woodcarvings and richly painted houses. You’ll be given time to spend as you like in Oberammergau for sightseeing and shopping. You may want to sample the delicious traditional sweets in one of the many cafés. Oberammergau has a wide array of woodcarver shops; if you’re in the mood for shopping, the hand carved ornaments make great souvenirs.

So, you see, it is just a magical day on magical places!
