The name Aschaffenburg meant, “Castle at the ash tree river”, named after the River Aschaff that runs through parts of the town. It has an active port along the Main, in the district of Lieder, with a railway access.
Aschaffenburg has a lot of stunning sightseeing for tourist attraction, some of these are:
Schloss Johannisburg: It is an ancient castle, raised between 1605 and 1614 by Georg Ridinger. It is a classic building, constructed of red stones. Until 1803, it was the second dwelling of the Prince Bishop of Mainz. This castle is one of the main attractions of Aschaffenburg and its landmark. Overlooking the waterside of the River Main, it placed in the core of the city. It is one of the most illustrious buildings of the revitalization period in Germany. The interior of this castle modernized in the style of classicism, at the end of the 18th century.
Stiftskirche: Built in the 1100s, it is the church of St. Peter and Alexander, placed on a hill overlooking the Aschaffenburg old town. The striking formation is a exclusive amalgamation of construction styles from Romanesque to baroque. It is the creation of many centuries of building and amendment. There is a crucifix from 980 AD, placed inside it.
Schonbusch Park: Adorned with a small picturesque lake, it is a nice park, consists the ruins of an old castle in the center, on an island. A small strider bridge placed here, leading to the stone leftovers. Along with the contiguous red vines and weeping willows, the bridge and the ruins add a marvelous fascination to this place.
Old Town: It is a beautiful and quixotic old town, placed between Town Hall and Castle. In this region, you can find half-timbered houses and hundreds of years old churches, restaurants, gift shops, little cafes and narrow cobbled passages.
