Cottbus is situated in the Brandenburg, Germany, located on the River Spree. The population is more than 100,000 inhabitants. It was renowned for its wool industry in medieval time and was the cultural hub of the Lower Sorbian. It is the home to the renowned university the ‘Brandenberg University of Technology’.

The city endowed with tremendous sights and historical architecture. The ‘Altmarkt’ (Old Market Square) is a magnificent glut of historical buildings mostly dating back from 1671 and mostly in Baroque style. It is 31 meter high tower and is the component of the old city walls, forming the gateway entrance of the southern Cottbus. The famous artist of the Cottbus the Karl Blechen honored by displaying his inspirational paintings in a wonderful ‘Furst Pukler Museum’ located in the Schloss Branitz building, the palace belong to the Hermann von Puckler Muskau built in 18th century. The fans of art from classical to contemporary art must visit the ‘Dieselkraftwerk Art Museum’ housed in the electric power station building, the power generated by diesel in that station. The theme of exhibition changes with time, exhibit the poster, paintings, graphics, sculpture and photography. The ‘Brandenburgisches Apotheken Museum’ is the spectacular pharmaceutical museum covers the history of pharmacy of whole Brandenburg. It displays the old fashioned shop, pharmacy and old medicines.

Cottbus offer much to the nature lovers with its outstanding parkland, the alluring ‘Tierpark’ is a fabulous zoological garden, established in 1954. It has the large collection of exotic animals around 1100 of about 170 species and famous for its water bird breeding center. Nearby this park another fabled park the ‘Spreeauenpark’ occupy around 1.2 hectares of land, fascinated with numerous plant species.

The mesmerizing and state of the art building of the Cottbus State Theater is worth to visit not only for its majestic architecture but also to enjoy the music, operas, ballets and drama.
