Dessau is located on the convergence of the Rivers Elbe and Mulde, in the Federal State Bundesland of Lower Saxony, Germany. The city with around 80,000 inhabitants, enchanted with several palaces and parks makes it the beautiful green city. It was first documented in early 13th century. The city is popular for its college of architecture and art, the compounds of building in the center of the city built in around 1925, this Bahause college is now transform to a museum. The city is the home to the ‘Anhalt University of Applied Sciences’.

One of the wonderful and fascinating attractions for the visitor in Dessau is the grand ‘Dessau Worlitz Garden’, established in 18th century and is the largest English park in the Europe and listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. There are number of buildings, monuments and beautiful landscape makes it the marvelous place to visit in the city. The ‘Oranienbaum Garden’ with the ‘Oranienbaum Palace’ a Chinese style architectural wonders with best art of décor, furnishings include the leather wallpapers, dining room, number of beautiful arch bridges, spectacular pagoda, tea house and orangery. The magnificent ‘Worlitzer Park’ situated along the Worlitzer a small town in the city, at the same time it serve as the institutional park for gardening and agriculture, the park accompany with a splendid palace the ‘Worlitzer Palace’ built in 1773, moat with a ‘Worlitzer Lake’, the park cover around 25 km of land. The Garden realm also is the home to the several castles that includes ‘Luisium Castle’ a Neoclassical style built in 1774, the ‘Gergium Castle’,  the Rococo style castle in western Dessau the ‘Mosigkau Castle’ and at the end of the Garden realm the ‘Groβkuhnau Castle’ built in 1780.

The ‘Old Town’ (Altstadt) is located in the center of the city with a spacious ‘Schlossplatz Square’ surrounded by the numerous historical buildings. The ‘Rathaus’, city library, an old castle and an old Gothic style church the ‘Marienkirche’ is located around the square, and the tower gives the panoramic view of the green city.

There are numerous museums in the city which tells the folklore and civic history of the city. The fantastic display of the underground treasures in a fabulous six story building with a 40 m high tower known as the ‘Natural History Museum’ in Dessau.  The popular thematic ‘Museum of Polical History Dessau’ exhibits the historical development of legal system in the region, worth seeing.
