Frankfurt-am-Main is the business heart of Germany and of its financial center.
Completely reconstructed after the War, today it is a modern and dynamic city, with great buildings that are a symbol of the economic power of Germany today. Although Frankfurt is not a part of the typical tourism destination, it is by far Germany’s most international city. Since the 13th Century it already was an important commercial center of Europe, and it is until today. The arts, museums, fairs, events and constant expositions still make this city an exciting and invitefull destination.
Frankfurt may not be a part of the traditional tourism destination especially because – with the exception of a few places – Frankfurt doesn’t exactly looks like Germany. It reminds a little bit if New York or even a city like Sao Paulo, and it doesn’t bring any resemblance to thos
e lovely German cities with the traditional architecture that we love so much.
The main scenery in Frankfurt is the tall buildings and the modern business buildings and banks, the crowded streets and people walking around in a rush. But Frankfurt still enchants you in a different way.
Start your walk through the central area of Frankfurt, where many of the streets are exclusive for pedestrians. The commercial window of the city is called Zeil, an avenue that is wide and full of trees and it is more than one kilometer long. Zeil is considered one of the largest open malls of Europe, given all the variety of stores and the great number of visitors.
