In the northern part of the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis District, the city of Hattingen located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Established in 1396, this eminent city lies on the south bank of the
River Ruhr. Now a days it is a historic and picturesque city with timber framed houses, which built between the 14th and 16th centuries. The old city still partly bounded by the city walls. In 172, this city became an eminent trading town and there were 52 operating coalmines within the municipal area, and it was one of the first industrial cities of the Ruhr region. Now this city is becoming a center of tourism, especially its historical downtown.
The neighboring cities of Hattingen are Essen, Velbert, Wuppertal, Sporckhovel, Bochum, and Witten. This city has major tourist attractions, and visitors from all over the world plan to visit here. There are three castles remaining within the municipal area of Hattingen. Castle Isenburg built in the 12th century above the Ruhr, in the hillsides. This castle destroyed in 1225, but spectacular ruins remains. Blankenstein Castle built in 13th century above the Ruhr River. Haus Kemnade is a castle built in 16th century. All these three castles are famous tourist landmarks and open to the public.
The Henrichshutte iron and steel works museum is previously a factory, but now it converts into a museum, and it tells the story of the old industry and life in a steel town. Living Museum is another worthy place to visit.
The white house is the most famous building in Hattingen, located in the shopping area of the old city. It built in 1611, and during the daylight, at any time you will pass here; you will see someone taken picture of this house. The painter angle with the leaning tower of St. George’s Church, the Old Town Hall, Kemnde Lake, Gethmann’sche garden, and the Church Square are another places to visit. Wasserburg Kemnade house built in 1663, and this plant is now houses the collection of instrument Grumbt, the east Asian collection and the treasury Kemnade.
Hattingen offers to stroll a nice shopping street Heggerstrabe and the newly built Reschop Carre. Both shopping centers are easily reachable and have a huge variety of all kinds of shopping products.
Hattingen settled just about in the surrounding airports of Dusseldorf, Munster and Dormund, and Dusseldorf had the most global connections. By road, this city is just 45 minutes away from these major airports.
