Moers formerly had different names as Murse, Meurs or Murs, situated in western Germany on left bank of River Rhine. It is the home to more than 100,000 people, the historical city with its 700 years old history, endowed the diverse cultural heritage and landscape with numerous captivating sights for visitors.

It is the home to the renowned historical architecture rich with far-fetched castles, breathtaking housing, arty statues and monuments widespread in city. The ‘Moers Castle’ is an extravagant building which is housing the park, museum and theater. The castle built in around 12th century located in the city center. The incredible structure made by specific stones called ‘Tuffstein’, this castle was home to various emperors at different times. In 1836 the fabulous park added to the building and afterwards in 1975 it also offered the theatrical plays to entertain visitors. Another wonderful castle in the Moers is the ‘Lauersfort Castle’ construction started in 15th century, located on wet lands.

There are few old houses worth to view in the city, the ‘Krelsatandehaus’ a renaissance  style built in 1898, now housing a school the ‘Volkshochschule’. The ‘Peachkenhaus’ classical style house one of the oldest of the town built in around 15th century. The ‘Averdunkshof’ and ‘Martintinstift’ late classical houses by Franz Ludwig Zahn for Reform School in his own farm land.

One of the attractive sight in the city is the largest mine, the Coal Mine accompany the lush and spacious residential area for miners; this was the first mine settlement of the city built in 1904.

The city enthralled with masterpieces of church buildings, the Gothic style ‘St. Josef Church’ is the Old Catholic church built in 1871. The ‘Evangelical Town Church’ built in 1448 by Dompoller Tlimann. Another Catholic Church built in 1778 by the Prussian King Friedrich, nowadays transformed to the fabled Kindergarden. Furthermore, the city also housed the marvel of ‘Parish Church’ from 12th century and the Evangelical church (Ludgerl Kapelle) built in 15th century.

The best place in the city for visitors and tourist to stroll around is the ‘Old Town’ (Altstadt), some of the new houses built in the vicinity but on the same old fashioned way, this car free zone offers immaculate stroll fascinated with delightful eateries, pubs and interesting shops. The green heart of the Moers is the alluring ‘Kindergarden’ placed next to the castle moat, fabled with exotic trees and plants.
