Munich is considered by many as the most beautiful city of Germany, and after visiting it, it’s hard to say it otherwise.

Munich germanyIts silhouette, where one can see the twin towers with their green abbey of the Frauenkirche Church and the pointy tower of Neues Rathaus, seem to state proudly that no other German city could receive such title.

Munich – or Munchen – is a mixture of art, culture and joy to live. Often remembered as the capital of beer, heart of Bavaria, it is associated with Oktoberfest. With its castles, parks and festivals, Munich is one of those rare places where the rhythm of the city gets along with its delicious traditions.

For one to be oriented in Munich is fairly easy. The touristic center is situated between the central station – Hauptbahnhof – and the Isar River. Between these two sites there is a type of road intersection that marks the historical center of the city. There is no need of transportation to pass through this area; it is much more pleasant to walk.

Munich germanyFor those who need or prefer, the urban transportation is fast and efficient. One can choose among trolleys (Strassenbahn), short distance subway (U-Bahn), and long distance subway (S-Bahn). You can buy the tickets in the automatic machines which are located in several spots of the city – and then validate your ticket when you board.

And even if your visit to Munich is not during the Oktoberfest party, you have no need to worry! The city is filled with permanent parties in its many beer houses and you certainly must visit them and try out their traditional beers.

Among the most traditional ones are the big Hofbräuhaus (located at the Am Platz 9 – they present at night the show ‘Nights of Bavaria’, with typical music), the Mathäser Bierstadt (at Bayerstrasse 7) and the Augustinerkeller (Arnulstrasse 52), but there are plenty of other beer houses; each one better than the other.

Munich is definitely the ideal spot to discover all the beauty that Germany has to offer.
