Siegen is situated in South Westphalia, positioned in Siegen Wittgenstein district in the Arnsberg region, Germany. The city took the name from the name of Celtic river ‘Sieg’. With population of around 0.1 million regarded as the higher education center of the region and the University town with more than 14,000 students. The famous university houses in the city founded in 1972 is the ‘Gesamthochschule Siegen’ (University of Siegen). The city formerly had the flourishing mine industry, now is the services and administrative center of the South Westphalia and core mechanical and metallurgical hub of the region.
