The ‘City of Blades/Knives’, Solingen is located in north of Begisches Land region and south of Ruhr area, the city in North Rhine Westphalia (NRW). It is the member of Rhineland Authority with around 0.16 million inhabitants. It is the only city of Germany, which had the long history of manufacturing blades, knives, scissors and swords, produced by the renowned brands of Germany. Solingen was renowned for its quality manufacturing weaponry and a core entity for weapon trade in Europe. Today Solingen produces around 90 percent knives for Germany. The Schloss Burg is the castle of count Berg family built in 12th century located along the River Wupper. It is the largest rebuilt castle in North Rhine Westphalia, today a famous tourist attraction with its historical museum of Begisches land exhibiting chronicles and primordial artifacts. The church of castle serves as wedding place of the city. The Klosterkirche Church, a 16th century medieval church built in 1690, a member of the evangelical Christian monastery church, a cultural and communication center.

The Mungsten Bridge (Mungstener Bruck), a magnificent steel railroad bridge between Solingen and Remscheid, built in 1897. It is the highest railway bridge in Germany with its 107 m height, truly a landmark of the city and state of the art architectonic.
