Historically Villingen Schwenningen was the separate name of two towns, which were merged with several other surrounding villages to form a large Villingen Schwenningen town. The town gain popularity in 19th century because of the flourishing precision mechanics and watch manufacturing industry. The city is located in the southern Baden Wurttemberg in a district of Schwarzwald Baar, Germany and is located on eastern part of the wonderful wooded mountain range which is too dense that sunlight cannot pierce the heavily grown conifers, and famously known as the ‘Black Forest’. The city is the home of over 80,000 inhabitants, and positioned 700 m above Sea level.

The landmark of the city is the high rising 30 meter high ‘Wanne Observation Tower’ which is located on the top of Wanne Mountain in Villingen part of the city, which has the height of around 778 m. This tower is among the oldest towers made up of iron in the world, constructed in 1888. You can climb up the tower and hold your breath as it becomes 800 m high due to its location on hill top; this gives the immaculate scenery of the city and surrounding to the viewer.

The Villingen Schwenningen Münster, is a Gothic style church located in the center of Villingen, it is fascinated with two skyscraper towers, the church is still serves the citizens and open for visitors. The art lovers have the fantastic opportunity to slake their thirst by visiting the fabulous ‘Municipal Art Gallery’ organized by the city municipality.

The city offers several museums and among the popular are the, ‘Franciscan Museum’ in the central part of the Villingen and the ‘Schwinningen Clock Museum’ in the center of the Schwinningen. The Franciscan Museum exhibits the archaeological findings of the region particularly from the Black Forest.  The ‘Schwinningen Clock Museum’ depicts the historical boom of the watch making industry in the region.
