Freiluftkino, Germany – Experience Typical German Outdoor Cinema

There is no point visiting a country if one plans to stay cooped up in hotel rooms, restaurants and museums when one can enjoy the country outdoors. Usually when people visit cities they tend to visit enclosed places like museums for a feel of the country but when the weather is good, walking or experiencing an outdoor activity that locals take part in is an excellent way to understand a little bit more about the country and its people. The best part of an outdoor cinema is that it is something everyone can be a part of. Physically challenged or the old and infirm often find many attractions out of their bounds because it requires climbing stairs or walking a lot but an outdoor cinema can be enjoyed by everyone. Germany tourism offers a great variety of attractions; tourists generally get up really early in the morning and start visiting museums and other places of interest. If you are tired by the end of the day but do not want to call it a day, enjoy a typical Berlin summer attraction – an outdoor movie.

Outdoor movies or Freiluftkino takes place in the various parks and gardens of Berlin. Most of them usually show German movies but the Freiluftkino Kreuzberg shows movies in English. It is located in the 3 Schwestern Restaurant’s back garden in the Kunsthaus Bethanian Arts Centre. Tickets for shows usually cost six and a half Euro and tickets start selling half an hour before the show. Chairs are provided for the viewers but it might get a little chilly so it is advisable to bring a waterproof wind cheater and blanket in case you need it. It is one of the most popular outdoor cinemas because of its fantastic location therefore it is advisable to come early. There are many cafes and bars near Freiluftkino Kreuzberg therefore one can also start their evening with a movie and later visit pubs in the area.

Screenings include popular cinema, new releases, documentaries, classics as well as some fantastic world cinema. The organizers always try to show a movie in the original language therefore subtitles are provided.
