Rheinland-PalatinateAnother one of the sixteen states of Germany is the Rhineland-Palatinate; it is populated about approximately four million people in an area of 19,846 square kilometres, it has an area of 7.663 square miles with the main capital of Mainz.

History

Established in the 30th of August 1946, the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate was formed in the northern area of the French Occupation Zone, which included Bavaria which is the Rhenish Palatinate, south parts of Prussian Rhine Province, some parts of the Prussian Province of Nassau and parts of the Hesse-Darmstadt. The new state of Rhineland-Palatinate was officially and legally confirmed through the due process of referendum on May 18th 1947.

Geography

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is located in the western part of Germany. The surrounding borders are North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Badden-Württemberg, France, Saarland, Luxemburg, and Belgium.

Rhineland-PalatinateThe Rhine River is the largest in the state which becomes the border between Hesse and Bade-Württemberg in the southeast then lows right on through the northern part of the state.  Aside from rivers, the state also has mountain chains that have become a part of significantly historical places in Germany. The mountain chains of Eifel and Hunsrück are found in the north which is the west bank of the river Rhine, and the mountain chains of Taunus and Westerwald can be found in the east bank. The southern part of the state is where the Palatinate forest can be found and the Palatinate. These mountain chains are all separated and divided through numerous branches of the River Rhine which are the Nahe, the Lahn and the Mosel.

Economy & Industry

As being the home of the German Wine Institute, the German Wine Fund in the Haus des DeutschenWeines (House of German Wine), and the VerbandDeutscherPrädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter Wine Bourse, the state of Rhineland – Palatinate is known to be the country’s leading producers of wine, grape cultivation and wine export. Mainz, the capital is also known to be the capital of the German wine industry. This has become a sole reason for a lot of winemakers not only in Germany but all over the world gather in Mainz, Rhineland – Palatinate for this great economic advantage.

Rhineland-Palatinate industryAll over Germany, there are thirteen regions which produce top of the quality wine; six of those regions are all located in Rhineland – Palatinate. And to help support the ever growing wine industry, what is good about Rhineland – Palatinate is that they are willing to support the industry by giving educational programs and consultations through the service supply centers of the area. These centers are usually partially or fully financed by the state and through the years; it has helped a lot with the increase of new breeds of wine and most of all the increase the quality and production of wines.

Aside from wine production, another growing sector in the state is the chemical industry. In Ludwigshafen, is where the headquarters of the largest chemical company in the world, BASF is located. Other industries like  Pharmaceutical has BoehringerIngelheim in Ingelheim am Rhein, the mechanical industry for big car manufactures from Opel and  Daimler – Truck – Group found in Wörth am Rhein. From chemicals, cars, cookies, breweries, and even mineral bottles, the state of Rhineland – Palatinate is a region where in you know there will be a lot of important sectors that can help build and increase the stability of the state’s and even the whole country’s state of economy.
