The Pergamon museum in Berlin is one of the biggest attractions of Germany tourism. The Pergamon museum enjoys the reputation of being one of the best history museums in the world. The main attraction at the collection of classical antiquities is the Pergamon altar built in the second century B.C. While the Pergamon altar is a masterpiece of the Hellenistic genre of art, the market gate of Miletus located in the same section is a grand example of Roman architecture. One can proceed towards the Ancient Near East exhibit next which houses treasures of the Oriental.

Fourteen rooms are dedicated to the Ancient Near East exhibitions and its exhibits can be compared to some of the best museums in the world. The reconstruction of the Babylonian monuments such as the Ishtar Gate, the Processional way and many more are extremely popular exhibits along with the model of tower of Babel. The museum of Islamic art contains works of art from the eighth to the nineteenth century and the collection stresses on the Middle Eastern Region especially Tran and Egypt. One can see applied art of the region on a wide variety of materials like glass, metal, ceramic vessels and more.

There is a lot to see in the museum including special exhibitions which change from time to time. It is best to arrive early at the museum as it takes time to explore the exhibitions.
