extremely popular tourist destination. However, Bavaria has more to offer than just Munich. Besides the other cities it has a fantastic countryside with old castles which one can view free of cost.

Skiing
The Bavarian Alps are excellent for skiing purpose and there are many snowboard and ski resorts in Bavaria. The Bavarian Alps and forests are a sight worth visiting. Resorts in Bavaria are usually quite well kept but they are quite cheaper than ski resorts in Switzerland or Austria.
Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are amongst the most popular spots for tourists. Since Oberstdorf has been little off the track for tourists it has retained its pristine beauty till date. Oberstdorf offers many charming sights like young cattle being driven back to the villages after grazing in the Alpine pastures for the day.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber
This town is situated between Munich and Frankfurt located on a road that is often referred to as the Romantic road. It is an old medieval town and being there can make people feel like they have traveled back in time. During the
fifteenth century it used to be a very prosperous town, at present it is a very famous tourist destination. Since it is a small town one can easily tour the town by walking. The market square, the town tower, the medieval crime and punishment museum and the Plonlein are amongst its many tourist attractions.
Nuremburg
Nuremburg is the second largest city of Bavaria, after Munich. Nuremburg offers many attractions to tourists. Those visiting Nuremburg for the entire day are advised to purchase the Nuremburg card which provides free admission to many museums and other tourist attractions as well as free public transport services. The card also provides discounts in many shops. Nuremburg’s main attraction includes its huge castle located in the north-western corner of the city and Courtroom 600 – the venue for Nuremburg trial. Nuremburg’s many museums are also quite popular like medieval dungeons and the toy museum.
Munich
Munich, the capital of Bavaria is a city with many sights more importantly it is the venue for many interesting events as well such as the Oktoberfest held in late September and the Maibaumaufstellung held on the first of May. It becomes very difficult to find accommodation during these events in Munich. Therefore those planning to visit Munich must plan well in advance. Those interested in theater and Opera are in for a treat in Munich. Munich has wonderful theatres and opera houses like the Residenztheater which is famous for both modern and classical plays and the Nationaltheater is famous for opera as well as ballet performances and is often acclaimed as one of the best in the world.
