Travel to Germany and Go On Cave Tours – Visit the Oldest Cave Show

If caves fascinate you, you must travel to Germany and visit the show caves in Germany. Baumann’s cave was the first show cave in the history of German show caves. It is located amongst the Harz Mountains in Germany. It is also one of the oldest show caves in the world. Geologically it is labeled as a dripstone cave. It started functioning as a show cave from 1646 and it has been visited by many since that day, its most famous visitor was Wolfgang Goethe, therefore the biggest chamber of the cave is named after him – Goethesaal. As a tribute to Wolfgang the chamber is not just named after him but it is also a stage for plays and concerts.

Visitors to this cave are never disappointed by its beauty. The stalagmites and stalactites have been well preserved inside the cave to provide an amazing view to those visiting the caves. A visit to these caves is a must for those who travel to Germany and want to visit Germany’s natural beauty. The formations of the stalagmites and stalactites create a variety of formations in the cave and leave most visitors spellbound at its beauty. While on one hand the cave exhibits the beautiful formations of stalagmites and stalactites on the other hand there is a rather creepy attraction – the skeletons of its former residents, the bears. One can also find bear skeletons inside the cave which though a little eerie is also quite interesting.

The cave tours are usually quite flexible and depend on the volume of visitors but on an average a cave tour takes place every half an hour. The tour is basically a guided walking tour so one must wear appropriate shoes and the temperature inside the cave is usually 8 or 9 degree Celsius therefore it makes sense to wear a warm jacket. The guided tour path inside the cave is roughly around 600 kilometers. During the tour one has to climb a lot of steps both up and down as well. One can purchase tickets at the gate entrance. Though prior booking is not a requirement but large groups of twenty people or more should call up and make reservations before coming. Since it is a show cave, the insides of the caves are lighted so one can view its beauty.

It is not very difficult to get to Rubeland, one can even drive to view the caves. Parking space is provided free of cost 400 kilometers from the cave. If the cave show makes you hungry, you can stop at one of the many restaurants nearby. Besides restaurants, there are some small kiosks serving snacks.
