Jena is located in the state of  Thuringia, Germany. Many tourists have reservations when it comes to travelling to Eastern Germany but Jena is a destination where one can find plenty of foreigners as there are a large number of foreign students in Jena. Jena is a small city that is best discovered on foot but if you want there is plenty of public transport as well like buses and street cars but it is not cheap.

Highlights in Jena include the theatre at Kulturhaus as well as Schiller’s garden house and exhibition. The botanic garden in Jena is definitely worth checking out. For a small city, Jena has plenty of places to shop where one can find almost anything that might be required; however one must not expect to pick up souvenirs from Jena as there aren’t many articles available which can be kept of gifted as memorabilia. However, if you have had a nice stay and want a souvenir to remember the place, head towards the hills surrounding the city. The hills give an excellent panoramic view of the city and the view is worth capturing.

One can also find some pretty good hotels at Jena as well which are quite reasonably priced considering the amenities and services provided by them.
