Hannover Adventure Zoo
In 15 years, Zoo Hannover GmbH’s ‘Zoo of the Future’ World Exposition Project has revolutionized the European zoo world;
a conventional municipal zoological gardens has evolved into the tourist highlight of the state capital of Niedersachsen. About 1,6 million visitors each year are enchanted by seven unique theme worlds – the African Zambezi landscape, Gorilla Mountain, the Indian Jungle Palace, the Niedersachsen Meyer’s Farm, Mollywoop children’s land, the Australian Outback and the Yukon Bay Canadian landscape.
Opel Zoo
At Opel Zoo, visitors can watch giraffes, hippos, elephants and zebras almost as if they were in the wild. This 27-hectare landscaped zoo in Kronberg near Frankfurt also has circular paths and trails, adventure playgrounds and a petting zoo. And if you’ve always wanted to ride a camel, this is your chance to try out one of these “ships of the desert”.
Hagenbeck Zoo
Have you ever fed a live elephant? Well, you can at Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg, where around 2,500 animals from all over the world live in a park that is also a listed site of historical interest. It’s great to get up high enough to look giraffes straight in the eye and to watch baby orangutans at play. Feeding time for the penguins and seals is also wonderful fun.
Hellabrunn Zoo
The Munich Zoo Hellabrunn was founded in 1911 as the first Geo-zoo worldwide. The animals live according to their geographic distribution in complex communities. If you follow the icons you will travel around the world and experience our different habitats. Hellabrunn is not a zoo in the classical sense. It is more of a nature preserve within the landscape conservation area of the Isar meadows inhabited by animals that live in especially large, structured enclosures. Thanks to an extensive array of ditches and a natural landscape design, the visitor can enjoy the wonderful and unobstructed view of animals that could normally only be obtained on safari.
